Road Freight Transport Today: Pressure on Costs, Technology and Sustainability

Road freight transport has been undergoing significant change in recent years. At C.S.CARGO, we are also dealing with a shortage of drivers, rising operating costs and increasing pressure to reduce emissions. At the same time, new technologies, changes in European legislation and evolving customer requirements are becoming part of everyday logistics operations. These topics are discussed by our CEO, Aleš Willert, in an interview for Forbes. In the podcast, he talks about the current challenges facing the road freight sector, the development of the market and how we, as a logistics provider, are preparing for the future.

One of the major topics is the electrification of heavy-duty transport. Electric trucks are already available today and, based on our experience, customers are interested in them. In practice, however, the main barrier is still the overall cost of operations. “Over the past two years, we have approached around two hundred customers. The response was positive, but once we reached the specific cost calculation, agreements usually did not follow,” explains Aleš Willert in the interview.
Alongside technological developments, we also address broader market factors such as the availability of workforce, fuel price developments and the impact of European regulations. These factors affect not only carriers but also our customers and the entire supply chain.
The interview offers our perspective on the current state and future of the industry and shows how we approach the further development of logistics in Central Europe.
